Moose Mountain Jazz Band
Doug has lived in Wolfeboro for the last 29 years, and during that time has played piano and trombone with a variety of bands. His love for "Traditional" or "Dixieland" jazz is a passion that goes back to his high school days when he first heard the likes of Jack Teagarden, Bobby Hackett, and Peanuts Hucko, strutting their stuff on vinyl LP recordings. Doug has performed all over the Lakes Region, including a three-year stint on the Steamship "Mt. Washington" back in the 1980's. Currently, in addition to working with Lance in small group settings, Doug plays trombone in the Cate Park Band in Wolfeboro. This band performs every week during the summer at the Community Bandstand located in Cate Park. Doug is also the founder and current president of a non-profit group called "Friends of Wolfeboro Community Bandstand". This organization was the brainchild of Doug, and through it, he spearheaded an effort in 1995 to raise money to build the Community Bandstand. The group now works to provide an outstanding concert season during the summer, where thousands of people can sit in the park, and enjoy all styles of music all summer long free of charge. When not performing, Doug lives with Carol, his wife of 37 years, in their home in Wolfeboro and enjoy keeping in close touch with their three "grown-and-gone" children.
